Tommy Noonan, Liam O'Neill and Matthew Ford will create "Aura" as part of Carrboro's SHIMMER Festival. The installation is both visual and performance-based. A single shipping container is set in a public space, neon words fixed to the top read: AURA to draw the viewer in. A glow through the cracks in the door with a fascinating radiance suggests the promise of something wonderful inside. Approaching the mysterious box further enhances the mystery, and the sense of wonder and promise. Will curiosity equal reward? The installation explores individual perceptions about Perfection, the Ineffable and the Unknowable within public space. It also hints at authority and restrictive space.
