Sarah Marguier's residency with Culture Mill is a part of our project: "Brown".

SARAH MARGUIER IS A COSTUME, SET, AND VISUAL DESIGNER, BORN IN PARIS, AND CURRENTLY BASED IN PORTLAND, OREGON BY WAY OF CHICAGO AND BERLIN. HER WORK HAS BEEN FEATURED IN PERFORMANCES WORLDWIDE--CHICAGO, PARIS, BERLIN, FREIBURG, LEIPZIG, GRENOBLE, ST JOHN (CANADA), ASSISI (ITALY), AND BAMAKO (MALI)--AND SHE HAS WORKED AS A COSTUME DESIGNER, SET DESIGNER, LIGHT DESIGNER, AND VISUAL ARTIST WITH CHOREOGRAPHERS AND DIRECTORS MAYA M. CARROLL, TOMMY NOONAN, MURIELLE ELIZEON, ZUFIT SIMON, LOUISE WAGNER, TO NAME A FEW.  

IN 2013, SHE CREATED WHAT REMAINS, A RESEARCH PLATFORM SHOWCASING WORKS DEVOTED TO EXPLORE THE ARCHIVE AND MEMORY, AND THEIR RELATION TO OBLIVION IN OUR CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY. IN 2014, THE RESEARCH WAS AWARDED THE SUPPORT OF THE ORGANISME FRANCO-ALLEMAND DE LA JEUNESSE TO FURTHER DEVELOP AND PRODUCE PROJECTS.

SARAH ATTENDED THE PRESTIGIOUS ECOLE SUPÉRIEURE DES ARTS DÉCORATIFS IN PARIS, AND HOLDS AN MA IN CRITICAL THEORY AND CREATIVE RESEARCH FROM THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COLLEGE OF ART.  SHE RECEIVED THE 2015 CT+CR PROGRAM AWARD FOR HER RESEARCH ON THE ROLE OF ARTISTS-AS-ARCHIVISTS AND THE PARADOXES OF MEMORY AND OBLIVION IN OUR CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY.

SINCE 2016, SHE HAS ALSO BEEN TOURING WITH BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND, FOR THE RIVER TOUR IN EUROPE, USA, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
